Email: hodg@comporium.net My father Pete started taking me hunting when I was just 3 years old. He would wade off into the swamps off of the "Great Pee Dee River" with me on his shoulders and would sit me down on a stump while he hunted. With that continuing every year I managed to kill my first duck(s) when I was nine years old, which turned out to be two black ducks in one shot! My dad said this must be a sign of things to come. I have a beautiful wife name Lisa and three children name Kayla, Josh, and Blake. Kayla has grown up duck and goose hunting while Josh loves to dove hunt. My youngest son Blake has truly followed my footsteps not only for my love of waterfowling but for competition calling as well. I have competed several years in our SC State calling contest with five top five finishes and two of them being second place. I took several years off but when Blake started taking more interest in calling the fire got re-ignited. Blake has two SC JR State championships to his credit with other wins and top fives to boot. We've entered several two man-team (adult) contests with a 2nd, and 3rd place in SC and a 6th place in TN. I love to hunt some of the same swamps off of the "Great Pee Dee River" that I cut my teeth on and regularly hunt public areas such as Wateree and Santee. I'll travel to the coast occasionally and will hunt several agriculture fields for geese within the state. Out of state, I will travel up the east coast to Maryland and across to Arkansas and to Tennessee for both ducks and geese. During the off season, I enjoy deer hunting, turkey hunting, and bass fishing along with some ocean pier fishing. In between those times Blake and I (mainly Blake) compete in several contests through out the United States. Along with being a Drake Waterfowl Field Expert, I'm also on Hayes Calls Competition Team. I'm an active committee member of Lancaster Co. Ducks Unlimited and member of SCWA, NWTF and the NRA. |
