My name is Jeff Crable and I currently reside in McLouth, Kansas which is located just northeast of Kansas City. I am 42 years old but my wife says I act more like I am 12 at times. I was first introduced to hunting and fishing at an early age by my Dad and my Grandpa. It all started with carrying a stick, playing the bird boy and working my way up to a BB gun. By the time I was 8 I had been promoted to a full fledged gun carrying hunting machine. I was fully engaged in chasing both feathered and furry critters throughout the Midwest and bugging anyone old enough to drive to take me hunting. For the last 38 years, my love of the outdoors kept me out of trouble (except for not doing my chores on more than one occasion when I was a child). My passion for hunting led me into a life of military and government service where I remain employed today. I have been very fortunate to have traveled both across the US and to foreign lands serving my country and my family. My travels across the US have allowed me to observe, hunt and harvest many species of wildlife.

What I really love to do is sit in a flooded rice field or back water slough with my retrievers and listen for the whistling of wings overhead while waiting for legal shooting light or waiting impatiently at the edge of a stubble field with my retrievers watching the sun rise and hearing the cackle of pheasants as they first stir in the morning. But my greatest passion is sharing these same experiences with my children, nieces and nephews, and other youth. My 12- and 14-year old daughters both experienced their first turkey hunt last year and had the opportunity to connect but chose to watch two dominant Toms strut instead of taking the shot. Perhaps next year . . . .

This love of the outdoors and sharing the hunt with family and friends has led my wife and me to start our own gun dog kennel. From time to time we also selectively breed and sell Labrador Retrievers to carry on the qualities we value in a working retriever. Wind Wagon Retrievers, LLC was formed last year as a hobby business specializing in gun dog training, hunt test handling, boarding, and breeding. My goal is to make this business a full-time operation after I retire in about 6 years. We train dogs for both upland and waterfowl work and participate extensively in both AKC and HRC licensed retriever hunt tests. We are qualified as AKC and HRC judges and wish to promote the highest standards of the working retriever. My wife and I are a team and share in everything from training dogs to chasing dove, upland birds, ducks, geese, and turkeys. Along with our busy schedule of working, training, competing and hunting we somehow find time to be active members in the Kansas City Hunting Retriever Club.
