Mark was introduced to waterfowling by a good friend when he was in Jr. High School. They would beg their fathers to run them up to the marsh or over to the river every chance they could get. They would spend the rest of the day hunting and have their fathers pick them up at dark.
Through High School the routine continued only their dads didn't have to drive. Mark started to work at a local taxidermist where eventually he took over mounting all the birds for the shop where he excelled at waterfowl. He took numerous awards for his work including placing third on two different occasions in the masters division at the world taxidermy championships. During time Mark was in college he became interested in carving his own hunting decoys and produced his first hunting rig in 1986.
By the early 90's Mark was donating decoys to local DU events where he was an area chairman and was starting to make a name for himself in the local decoy circles. During this time he started expanding his hunting season and headed to Arkansas where he spent the late season guiding in the Stuttgart area for the next 10 seasons.
During the late 90's and early 00's Mark got married to his wife Shara and moved to Boonville where he manages the respiratory therapy and cardiology departments at the local hospital. They started a family and he continued to carve and donate decoys to the Missouri State DU dinner.
Over the last few years Mark has purchased two farms one of them a 420 ac. Partnership with Drake elite pro-staff member Ira McCauley. He has spends much of his free time working on habitat development and expanding the hunting opportunities on those farms while continuing to work on his carving. Mark just got through hosting DU TV for a hunt at a local conservation area to be aired in 2009.
