I was a huge deer hunter until I had a friend in the mid 80's ask me if I wanted to go to the Eastern Shore of Maryland for some duck and goose hunting. I looked at him and said "Why would you want to shoot ducks and geese?" I had a 12 gauge I used for hunting some farms in Virginia that were buck shot only, so I said yes I would go. We got into a nice hedge row blind and it started to snow. Then the geese came! They did it "feet down" twenty yards in front of the blind! I shot one and said "that is cool." What got me hooked was when we called in two double tail greenheads and I shot. And so it started… I had to have a boat, decoys, dog and more shotguns! Well 20k later I was a duck hunter!! Little did I know! Black Duck Outfitters was started in the late 90's when my wife said "you or all that stuff has got to go." I had 5 labs, 3 boats and hundreds of decoys! So I started guiding to try and justify all $$ I had spent. In 2004 I purchased a lodge in Manitoba Canada. Now Black Duck Outfitters is outfitting seven months a year and in 4 states and Canada. I love waterfowl hunting and Drake's great line of products gets put through the test every day!! |
