Bobby Wills wins 2010 SRS Crown Championship Title By Drake Waterfowl Bobby Wills, Drake Elite Team member and accomplished dog trainer, won the
2010 Super Retriever Series Crown Championship in Little Rock, AR, on May
23, 2010. Bobby won the prestigious event with a 10-year-old yellow Lab
named "Colt" 45 II. To compete in the SRS Crown Championship event, dogs
and their trainers must qualify by placing in the top 3 at sanctioned events
throughout the year.
Bobby was "double qualified" by taking 2nd place at
the SRS Classic in Stuttgart, AR, and by winning the Music City HRC
qualifier in Nashville, TN, earlier this year. Each qualifying event has
upwards of 100 dogs competing for the top spot, so simply qualifying for the
Crown Championship is quite a feat. ~read more~

74th Annual World's Championship Duck Calling Contest Makes for an Exciting Weekend in Stuttgart
Congratulations to all the competitors in the 74th annual World's Championship Duck Calling Contest this weekend. As always, the competition was stiff as just two points separated the champion and the first runner-up in the World's. There were many storylines throughout each of the competitions that made this an exciting year to watch the contests. Shelby Free was targeting her third title as Women's World Championship. Mr. Charles Petty was hoping to finally secure a championship after 23 consecutive years of qualifying. The final round of the World Duck pitted several relative newcomers against some seasoned veterans. read more.

House of Commons Votes to Repeal Long-gun Registry By Delta Waterfowl
A private member's bill to repeal the federal long-gun registry passed its first hurdle Wednesday as the House of Commons voted to scrap the controversial measure that requires Canadian citizens to register all firearms-including shotguns and rifles used for hunting.
"This has been a long, uphill battle, but we're finally getting closer to seeing the registry being repealed, and that's good news for hunters and other law-biding gun owners," said Delta Waterfowl Executive Vice President Dr. Bob Bailey. [...read more...]
USDA pushing for full Wetlands Reserve Program enrollment Ducks Unlimited supports efforts to boost conservation
The U.S. Department of Agriculture aims to have the Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP) enrolled to its fully authorized acreage by 2012, according to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Ducks Unlimited has a history of working with landowners to put WRP projects on their land, including more than 250,000 acres in the lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley, and looks forward to working with the USDA and landowners to reach this goal.
"This could be great news for farmers and duck hunters," said Dan Wrinn, director of public policy for Ducks Unlimited. "Ducks Unlimited partnering with farmers and the USDA to put more habitat on the ground, while providing benefits to landowners, is always a win-win situation."
